How to Petition St. Expedite – the Patron Saint for Quick Wishes

Saint Expedite was an Armenian saint who died as a Christian martyr. He is the patron saint for people who wish for quick solutions to problems, especially financial, legal, or pregnancy-related problems. He is also worshipped as an antidote to procrastination. He is highly worshipped by Catholic believers in the U.S., Europe, and South America.

Life History

Saint Expedite is said to have originally been named Expeditus. He gained his saintly position when the nuns who received his remains realized the power he had in granting prayers and petitions. Known as San Expedito in Spanish-speaking countries, Saint Expedite is said to have been a Roman Centurion before converting to Christianity. His own decision to convert and become a martyr makes him very different from other saints. He is popular for his quickness in providing results and fulfilling petitions, especially for providing quick money, solving difficult legal troubles, and helping women with fertility problems gain pregnancy quickly as well as expectant mothers to deliver quickly.

Not much is known about him, but he is said to have been martyred during the Diocletianic Persecution, one of the most inhuman and severe persecutions of Christians in Melitene in AD 303. It is said that the day he decided to convert to Christianity, a crow (or a snake, in some folk stories) appeared before him and told him to undergo the conversion the next day. Expeditus trampled it and declared that he “will be a Christian today”. This lore has been adapted to depict the saint as holding a cross with “Hodie” written on it, which is Latin for ‘today’, and crushing a crow under his feet which speaks “Cras”, the Latin word for ‘tomorrow’.

Prepare Your Altar

If you already have something to ask from Saint Expedite, then you should start your prayers by setting up an altar dedicated to the saint. If not, you can still set up an altar and present your offerings every Wednesday so you can strengthen your relationship and utilize it for times when you really need his help in your life.

Expedite prefers doorways, hence it is best to set up your altar near the front or back door. Alternatively, you can place it in the south or east directions, or in the direction of your Sheng Chi, your personal direction for prosperity according to Feng Shui. It is recommended to keep him away from children’s rooms and bedrooms, as his active periods can be disturbing to the occupants.

The cloth covering the altar must be red or white, and you will essentially need an image of Saint Expedite. It should preferably be printed or even prepared in the form of a spirit bottle. A typical altar decoration involves placing the image in the center back, with a wood wick candle and a glass of water in the front making a triangle formation. Feel free to decorate it in any way that makes you happy. Performing the Ritual

For a successfully fulfilled petition, you must pay your respects to the Saint keeping in mind that he gave up his life solely for the sake of Christianity. Besides the candle and glass of water (which are absolutely essential), other offerings Saint Expedite expects as a traditional soldier in exchange for his work are slices of pound cake, red roses, red wine, and some coins.  Sara Lee pound cake has been a traditionally well-favored brand, but homemade angel food cake has been shown to be liked as well.

You can place half of your offerings when you perform the petition and promise to pay the remaining after it gets fulfilled. Another way you can pay him is by spreading his name among your family, friends, and everyone you know. Not only is it a way of keeping him happy but also you can use the opportunity to spread the good news about such a potent Saint and help others have their wishes fulfilled.

It is ideal to clean and rearrange his altar every Wednesday, which is the most suited day to perform a petition ritual. If you wish to establish a place for Expedite in your planetary effect, you can simply perform your prayers at a time suited with the natural planetary alignments of your birth chart.

While speaking your petition, it is very important to be as specific as possible. Mention your main objective, details of everyone involved in your petition other than yourself, the location of your petition act (exact address, if known), when you need it to be done (‘as soon as possible’, ‘today’, ‘hodie’, and ‘now’ seem to be most effective as Expedite works best with short deadlines), and your motive behind the petition. Remember to keep them as detailed and specific as possible.

You can write down your exact petition before beginning so you don’t miss any points while performing the ritual. Present your offerings and speak your requests in a heartfelt way as if Saint Expedite is actually sitting in front of you and listening to you; talk to him like you would address a respected, revered person. Begin by lighting the candle and then start saying your petition in a gentle, respectful, heartfelt way. Ending Your Petition

Once you place your offerings and have performed your petition to Expedite, you must patiently wait for it to be fulfilled. While you wait, you can let the candle burn and flowers to stay on the altar, making sure you dispose of them before they begin to wilt. After the petition has been fulfilled, you can pour the water into the soil of a plant (palm would be best). Return to the altar with more offerings and thankful words as a show of gratitude towards the kind and giving soldier who granted your request without wanting for anything. Spread the word of his good deed among people you know and give him the attention he deserves.

The most important thing to remember while petitioning to Saint Expedite is that only prayers aren’t enough for your petition to be fulfilled. You must try your best in any and every way you can to achieve success, and let Saint Expedite work his magic to give his boost to your request for you to succeed.
